Jessica Alvarez is the founder and owner of Southern Oak Financial & Wellness in San Antonio, Texas. As a Special Needs Disability Consultant & Advocate, she helps families build a personal plan for their child — from age 5 through 26 — and guides them through SSA benefits, medication assistance, budgeting, and life insurance, one step at a time. Every plan is built personalized for the child and the family — to guide them as they go through their own journey.

Jessica has served the special needs community for five years, including her work with ABC of Southwest Texas, and spent two years in medication assistance programs. She has served as a Special Needs Advocate with Bexar County–area organizations, including University Health and CommuniCare. She has also been a life insurance agent with PFA for four years.

For Jessica, this work is personal. At just 11 years old, she developed juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and she still remembers what her family went through — the hardship her parents faced with SSA, the cost of medication, and the struggle for government assistance, often not knowing where to turn. She knows firsthand the struggles parents face with a child in need, because she lived them. That is why helping, advocating for, and supporting others is her life’s work — and why she built Southern Oak: so families facing what hers faced have clear guidance, honest answers, and someone truly on their side.

Those who know Jessica know this about her: she is honest, she is trusting, and she always gives if she can. She has thought her prices through with care, too, setting them at a level families can truly afford — because help people cannot afford is not really help.

Jessica is currently a doctoral candidate in Education — Organizational Leadership, with a focus on special needs. She has taken the classes, earned the certifications, and pursued the degrees behind this work, so families who cannot afford high prices still have a place to turn — and someone knowledgeable always seated on their side of the table. Jessica founded Southern Oak on a simple conviction: no family should have to face complex benefits, medication, and insurance systems alone.
